Gary Vee writes, You’ve probably heard me talking about how social media isn’t social media anymore… it’s interest media. But what does that really mean?
Social media used to be about who was in your “social” network, who your friends were… But now, platform algorithms are serving you content based on what you’re interested in, not based on who you follow. That means that even if someone has never posted on social media before, if they’re good enough, they could post a piece of content tonight and potentially get more views than something I post, even with my 10 million followers on Instagram. In an “interest media” world, it’s all about the merit of the creative. It’s this simple: make good shit that people are interested in and make it often.
Welcome to the “interest media” era.
